Prince Harry and Meghan, Duchess of Sussex, have accepted King Charles III’s invitation to stay at a royal residence during their upcoming trip to the United Kingdom next month, marking their first family visit in four years. The couple will be accompanied by their children, Prince Archie, 7, and Princess Lilibet, 5, in what is seen as a significant step toward mending the long-running rift with the royal family.
The Sussexes have not stayed on royal grounds since stepping back from royal duties in 2020 and relocating to California. This visit, which includes a mix of royal and private accommodations, is the first time the family has accepted the offer of a royal residence, according to a palace source.
The trip is centered around Prince Harry’s Invictus Games commitments, including events in London and Birmingham, where Meghan will also join him. The children are not expected to participate in public engagements. While security details have not been disclosed, staying in a royal residence will provide existing protection.
This development follows a period of limited contact, including a private tea between Harry and King Charles last year during the monarch’s cancer treatment. However, Harry remains estranged from his brother, Prince William. The visit, scheduled for July, comes as Harry celebrates the one-year countdown to the 2027 Invictus Games and attends other charitable engagements in the Midlands.
